Little Mouse
June 2nd, 2013I bought Little Bee a Little Cat a couple of weeks ago and she said that the Little Cat needs a Little Mouse… so I made it a Little Mouse.
A very bright pink Little Mouse indeed.
I followed the pattern from here.

A couple of weeks ago Gem Gem from nursery asked if I could make her a scarf… exactly the same one I made for Little Bee here. My first request ever! And as it may be my last… Hope Gem Gem likes it
Little Bee likes getting stickers for the good things that she’s done. Sometimes (most of the times) when I pick her up from nursery, she will have a sticker on her t-shirt and when I ask her what it’s for, she would proudly tell me it was because she’s been good.
So… let’s see if this will work at home. I have some star stickers and I’ve created a daily chart for her. We started yesterday, I she proudly showed off her stars to daddy when he came home. Let’s see how long it will last!
Just a quick doodle of how I should have dressed to work today! It is the middle of May and I am FREEZING and envying my colleague who is wearing a jumper! Even Little Bee had a winter coat today… but I didn’t put gloves on her and her hands were so cold when we got to nursery
Seriously… I don’t think I can take the cold much longer
The second attempt turned out better but it wasn’t as neat as I wanted it to be, but it is much flatter.
Again I used jute twine. I started with 5 chain and one slip stitch to connect it into a ring. 3 chain stitches and 10 treble stitch around the chain. Connect the last treble stitch with the chain with a slip stitch. 3 chain and one treble stitch on the first treble stitch below and two treble stitch on the next one and continue to alternate until the last treble stitch, connect with a slip stitch and another 3 chain stitches for the next line. Then two treble stitch on the first stitch, treble stitch, treble stitch, and alternate all the way around.
I know, this doesn’t make sense to even the advanced crocheter but it makes sense in my head and I just need a reminder to myself when I attempt my next place mat
This is my first effort at making a place mat… since Little Bee was complaining about all the place mats we have at home were falling apart.
I have to admit I didn’t really follow a pattern. I just had a quick look on how to make a circle (5 chain and slip stitch it together) and then just treble stitch around it. But I think I need to count the stitches for the next one so that it will be a bit flatter than this one.
Oh… I used jute twine rather than nice woolly yarn as it’s just going to be covered with mess in the kitchen
Little Bee loves spending in the kitchen with me and obviously wants to do everything that I do. Sometimes, she is able to help me with things sometimes I’d rather her not help but of course she then feels sad when I tell her that I don’t want her to help me… like I’m kneading dough for bread and she wants to knead too.
During those times, I make a batch of play dough for her so she can do her stuff and I can get on with mine.
Ingredients:
125g plain flour
25g salt
1tbsp cooking oil
70ml water
colouring of your choice.
I tend to keep it in the fridge for a week’s worth of play and come the weekend I make a new batch for her… it’s not that hard… and it is kind of our weekend routine now.
And below is what she’s busy making at the moment.
I’ve never crochet in my life. I had this idea that it is terribly difficult as I keep picturing the intricate crocheting that my mom did when I was a child.
But then, I saw a picture of a scarf that my friend Jue made.
It made me feel that it’s about time that I give it a go. If I fail miserably, than at least I could have said, I gave it a try… plus, I was going to crochet a scarf, not the intricate doilies that my mom used to make.
I can do it.
Plus, it would be a good ‘I’m sorry’ present for Little Bee when I dragged her around town when she was ill… and thinking that she was being difficult.
And I did it, with the yarn that Little Bee chose… and a few hidden mistakes here and there… I think I did an OK job at making a waffle scarf that she could use come spring.
