That makes me feel London is not such a bad place… but days like this doesn’t come too often… only when the sun shines and I forget all the stresses for the moment.

Apple and Custard Tart

February 8th, 2011

I really love Sainsbury’s Baby Club! Every so often they would send e-mails about discounts on baby products and included in the e-mail are some recipes! From their last e-mail, here’s a recipe for an apple and custard tart that is suitable for your toddler… who has now developed a sweet tooth and would gobble anything sweet!

1 packet of puff pastry
1 large Bramley apple
1 packet of instant custard
1 tbsp unrefined caster sugar

  • > Pre-heat oven to gas mark 6, 200C
  • > Roll the pastry and line the rolled up pastry into the pie dish. With a knife, cut off the pastry the extra pastry off the pie dish.
  • > Score a circle about a cm from the edge. This will help the outside to rise and the inside to remain flat.
  • > Prepare the custard as instructed on the packet and peel, core and finely slice the apple. Put a tablespoon of the custard in the middle of the pastry and spread it. Top it with the sliced apple and sprinkle the caster sugar over the sliced apple.
  • > Bake for 15 minutes and once it’s ready, cut a slice for you and a smaller slice for your toddler and serve it with dollops of custard! HEAVEN!
