I have to say that I’ve never bought a whole fish in my 20 odd years in the UK. I’ve bought cuts of fish but never a whole fish.
Lately, when ever Little Bee wants salmon, I’ve been getting the cut from the fish counter in ‘our’ Sainsbury’s. She keeps looking at the whole fish at the counter and keeps pointing at the sea bass and I keep promising her that I will get it one day.
After months of promising, one day came last week when hubby was away for the weekend. Hubby detest seafood. I bought the sea bream and Little Bee was excited.
We brought it home and I marinated it with soy sauce, honey, ginger, garlic and spring onions. Left it for an hour or so and steamed it.
I showed Little Bee how to look for bones and she demolished almost the whole fish! I ended up eating rice and fried egg… and picking the last of the fish flesh from the bones like a cat
