I painted this when I was pregnant wit Little Bee. Back then the only pair of shoes that fit me was my Birkenstocks! But one morning I woke up and my feet couldn’t fit into my Birkenstocks!!! It wasn’t an easy pregnancy… It was all worth it… as I look at Little Bee now sticking her bum up at me *sigh*
Hope you had great fun trick and treating!
Have you ever gone camping, and the middle of the night you hear weird sounds that spook you? It could be a big great giant monster out there… in your parents’ back garden…

And this weekend, I decided, wisely or not, that BubbaBee and me will do our art together… which resulted in total chaos! She started painting with her fingers, but wasn’t satisfied as she wanted to use a brush just like me. So I gave her paint brushes which she then proceeded to eat the paint with. When I took the brushes away, to protest… or maybe be more creative than I ever would, used her bum to mix the colours. So I present to you her first ever contribution to Illustration Friday for the subject SPOOKY:
Yes, I’ve already sent in my doodle but yesterday, I saw a photo of Bubba Bee in an old tyre at the play area of the nearby farm… with her hands up and looking very proud of herself… and I wondered what she was really thinking about.
Than I thought of when I was a child, how my brother and I used to play… and I thought of the time when we were at the back of my grandparents house underneath the coconut trees sitting in boxes pretending they were rockets blasting off to space.
Maybe Bubba Bee thought she was in a balloon rising up into the blue sky…

I know I’m late… but it’s better to be late than never! I actually did this over the weekend… while I was having art session with my almost one year old child. In between of telling her not to eat her crayons and stop poking her hand in my water container, it was total chaos!
Anyway… the first thing that came to my head when I saw the title was stargazy pie. It’s a Cornish dish originated from the village of Mousehole. There is a legend attached to it, but I don’t know what it is to be honest… something to do with some fisherman going out to the stormy sea.
I’ve never tasted the dish as it contains bacon, plus… there’s just something about the head sticking out that doesn’t really appeal to me. Oh… don’t worry. I have no problem with eating things with eyes… as long as it’s lying down. I guess with the heads sticking up looking at the sky, they just seem eerily alive.

I originally posted this up on 22 June 2009 under the title Eggs for Breakfast.
I haven’t done much painting since I gave birth to my wonderful, very active child almost 11 months ago… things have been a bit hectic but it’s all good. I still check up on IF and when I saw this week’s title, I just had to put this up. Maybe it will encourage me to find a bit of me time to start on painting again.
